12 Days Gorilla Trekking, Masai Mara And Diani Beach Holiday. This 12-day gorillas, Masai mara and Diani beach safari starts in Kigali and ends in Nairobi. The trip will take you to Volcanoes national park and while there, you will have fun meeting the mountain gorillas that share 99% DNA with the humans. During the gorilla trek, you will have a great time meeting the gentle giants. While at this tour, you will go golden monkey trekking. This Gorillas Masai Mara And Beach will also offer you an opportunity of exploring Kigali city with a city tour which will include visiting the genocide memorial and the Belgium museum. On the sixth day of the adventure, you will proceed to Masai mara national reserve where you will have a great time meeting the wild beast and wildlife. Finally, this adventure will take you to Diani beach where you will take part in water activities and also enjoy the beach life.

Detailed itinerary: Gorillas Masai Mara And Beach

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to the hotel

Welcome to Rwanda! Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met and greeted by our professional driver guide. He will take you through the trip plan and then transfer you to the hotel for relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 2: Kigali city tour and transfer to Volcanoes national park

At 7:00 am you will have breakfast and transfer to Kigali for the city tour. You will visit Ntarama church where you will learn more about the 1994 genocide memorial. From Nyamata church, crown the genocide history with a visit to Gisozi genocide memorial museum where you will learn more about the history of genocide memorial and how it went throughout the country. After lunch, you will visit the fire house which is the area where the plane that was carrying president Habyarima was brought down, that late sparked the famous 1994 Rwanda genocide. You will then visit the Belgium museum and learn more about Rwanda’s culture. After the city tour, you will have lunch and then transfer to Volcanoes national park.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking at Volcanoes national park

On this day, you will have a great time meeting with the mountain gorillas in Volcanoes national park! After a tasty breakfast, you guide will pick you from the lodge. You will head for briefing by ranger guides at 7:30 and at 8:30am with packed lunch. You will start the trek to hunt for the gorillas and after finding them you will spend with them a maximum of 1 hour. This walk can take 4-5 hours depending on where you meet the gorillas. The park is steep, it is a real hiking and being physically fit is recommended. After trekking, you will return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Golden monkey trekking

This will take us through the edges of the forest via potato fields and the briefing will be conducted in the same place where the usual Kinigi park office is located this means the trekking will take us 3-4 hours after the trekking, we shall return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will be transferred back to Kigali in preparation for your flight the following day.

Day 5: Transfer to Kigali for the flight

Depending on your flight schedule, you will checkout of the lodge and transfer to the airport for your flight to Nairobi. Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta international airport, you will be transferred to the hotel for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Masai Mara national reserve

After breakfast, the driver guide will transfer you to Masai Mara with a short stop over at the Rift Valley View point. Upon arrival at Masai Mara, you will check-in at the lodge for lunch. After lunch and a few hours of relaxation, you will set out for an evening game drive.

Masai Mara is a captivating ecosphere covering Savannah, grassland, woodlands and riverine forests. The national reserve populated by the “Big five”, in addition a diversity of other plain game and a rich variety of bird life. Drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Morning and evening game drives

After an early breakfast, with the help of your guide you will depart for a full day game drive and exploring Masai Mara in search of the wild animals found here. You will also visit to the river to witness the great wildebeest migration as they cross the river.

The Wildebeest are not the only tenants of the land. The Mara is also the home to other animals namely; zebra, elephants, giraffes, and to the big cats; cheetahs, lions and leopards. Hyena, jackal, buffalo, eland, topi, impala, gazelle, warthog add to this huge diversity of wildlife.

After the game drives, you will be driven back to the lodge of relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Full day game drive

Day 10: Ride the Diani quad bikes and visit Shimba Hills

Today is a full of fun and adventure. After breakfast, you will head out on the day’s tours. Enjoy a fascinating quad bike ride on dusty roads via small rural villages and the pleasing forested landscape that lies alongside Diani Beach. Then you will enjoy a relaxed lunch at a local restaurant and taste some delicious authentic Swahili dishes. After lunch, you head out for a tour of the lovely coastal forest, rolling grasslands and scrubland in Shimba Hills National Reserve. Throughout the visit to Shimba hills national reserve, you can take a leisurely walk to the charming Sheldrick Falls which outpour down a rocky cliff into an inviting pool at the bottom where you can swim. And also enjoy a game drive to see some of the reserve’s wildlife which includes elephant, buffalo, hartebeest, impala and vervet monkey. Shimba hills national reserve is Kenya’s only protected area where the rare sable antelope can be sighted. After a day filled with adventure, you will drive back to the lodge to enjoy the seafood dinner and may be cocktails with your feet in the sand at a Diani Beach bar overlooking the ocean.

Day 11: Full day at leisure.

On this day, you will take part in the hotel in house games and activities such as relaxing at the beach, swimming, gyming and massage.
