2 Days Gorilla and Golden Monkey Trekking Adventure – Overview

This 2-day gorilla and golden monkey adventure starts and ends in Kigali. This tour will take you to Volcanoes national park for golden monkey trekking and this exercise takes 3-4 hours. You will also get a chance of visiting the Elen DeGeneres museum by Diane Fossey.  The tour will proceed to the volcanoes headquarters for a briefing about the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking. During the trek, you will have a great time meeting with the mountain gorillas in the Volcanoes. After the trek, it will be time for your final transfer to Kigali for your flight back home.

Detailed Itinerary: 2 Days Gorilla and Golden Monkey Trekking

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to volcanoes national park

At exactly 4:30 am, you will be picked up from your hotel in Kigali and transferred to Volcanoes national park. You will be taken to the briefing point for a briefing about the dos and don’ts of golden monkeys. This will take us through the edges of the forest via potato fields and the briefing will be conducted in the same place where the usual Kinigi park office is located this means the trekking will take us 3-4 hours after the trekking, we shall return to the lodge for lunch and proceed to visit Elen DeGeneres museum by Diane Fossey. It’s a 20 minutes drive from the hiking point to the Elen DeGeneres museum by Diane Fossey

Day 2: Gorilla trekking at Volcanoes national park

On this day, you will have a great time meeting the mountain gorillas in Volcanoes national park! After a tasty breakfast, your guide will pick you up from the lodge. You will head for a briefing by ranger guides at 7:30 and at 8:30 am with packed lunch. You will start the trek to hunt for the gorillas and after finding them you will spend with them a maximum of 1 hour. This walk can take 4-5 hours depending on where you meet the gorillas. The park is steep, it is a real hike, and being physically fit is recommended. After trekking, you will return to the lodge for lunch and afterward proceed to Kigali.

Rwanda’s culture.  You will then have lunch and be transferred to the airport for your flight back home. At exactly 7 pm, Billy will drop you off at the airport for your flight back home.
