7 Days Great Apes in Rwanda and Uganda
- Day one: Kigali city tour and transfer to volcanoes national park

Detailed Itinerary: Great Apes in Rwanda and Uganda
Day one: Kigali city tour and transfer to volcanoes national park
After breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked up by our company representative who will introduce you to your guide/driver who will take you through Kigali City for an inspiring City tour, especially the genocide memorial center. Enjoy the scenic view of the cleanest and safest city in Africa after which you will head back to your hotel for lunch and en route to Volcanoes national park. The journey to volcanoes is about 3-4hrs enjoy the canopies and uncountable hills as you oscillate through them along the countryside of Rwanda. On arrival, you will check in at 5volcanoes lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day two: gorilla trekking in volcanoes national park.
Rise up early after an early breakfast meets your driver and drive to the park headquarters where you will meet a coalition of several others for the same cause and some for different activities. Enjoy a morning coffee to increase your temperatures as you assemble waiting to be assigned a gorilla family after which you will be driven to the briefing point to start on your highlight of the day. Enter the forest in search of your gorilla family, after finding them you will be allowed one hour. Take pictures for the best memories, enjoy the juveniles playing about in their habitat, silverback playing the leadership role of protecting its members, and blackbacks going about their day-to-day activities. After this, you will return to your driver with your armed ranger taking the lead alike before driving to the lodge for lunch.
Optional to Ellen foundation museum of the Dian Fossey get to know more about the gorillas and Dian Fossey and her unconditional passion for the gorillas. Dinner and overnight as above
Day three: golden monkey trekking, visit the twin lakes, and transfer to the Ruhija sector
Enjoy an early breakfast after which you will be driven back to volcanoes national park headquarters for another exciting day head to be briefed about the golden monkeys. With an armed game ranger you will be led to the forest to see the unique golden monkeys and as usual after one hour in their presence asking every question you would like to know and taking photos you will troll back to the starting point to meet your driver. Return to the lodge for lunch and check out after. Drive towards Uganda and visit the twin lakes Burera and Ruhondo. Enjoy the scenic view of the surroundings en route to Uganda to the Ruhija sector in Bwindi’s Impenetrable forest. After the 3-4hrs drive, you will check in at Kiho Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day four: gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable forest
After rising up very early and having a sumptuous breakfast, you will be picked up and driven to the briefing point to start the day’s activities. Enjoy the local entertainers who will usher you into the day with their exciting gorilla dance after which you will thrill into the forest in search of your gorilla family. Like before and for conservation purposes one hour will be allowed with the gorillas under the guidance of an armed ranger who is armed to scare away any animal that could be in your trek like the elephants. After the trekking, you will head to the Information Centre to receive your gorilla trekking certificate with your names engraved on it for remembrance or as evidence to show that you trekked gorillas.
Drive Lake Bunyonyi and enjoy an afternoon boat cruise. Dinner and overnight at Lake Bunyonyi eco-resort.
Day five: transfer to Kibale national park
Wake up early for breakfast as you have a cool glance at the Switzerland of Africa after its misty condition en route to Kibale National Park through Katuguru. After the long drive, you will check in at Chimpundu lodge have lunch and relax. Enjoy the view later have dinner and overnight.
Day six: chimpanzee trekking
Wake up early for breakfast after which you will meet your guide and head to the briefing point for the dos and don’ts around the chimps. Head out to the forest with your ranger who will avail you of all the information needed about every flora and fauna you come across. After coming face to face with Chimps, you will stay with them for one hour and thereafter return to your lodge for lunch. An optional visit to the Bigodi swamp later dinner and overnight as above.
Day seven: transfer to Entebbe airport
After breakfast, you will drive to Kampala to enjoy the savannah vegetation along the countryside. En route, lunch in Kampala and proceed to the airport for your flight.
