Exciting Serengeti Hot Air Balloon Safaris

A memorable and enchanting experience in the vast open plains of Serengeti National Park is a hot air balloon safari. You will feel the chill of an African sunrise while floating in the air at dawn, and you will look down upon the vast plains of Serengeti National Park like an eagle. Big cats on the hunt, migrating wildebeest, elephants, zebras, topi, and many more creatures will all be visible from above.

The  balloon safari experience

Starting at approximately 5:00 in the morning with a small cup of tea, the hot air balloon safaris in Serengeti National Park begin. The pilot and the rest of the balloon team will brief the guests before driving you to the launching site. The protocol calls for all guests to gather in the balloon’s basket before inflating it with hot air. Once everyone is there, they should buckle up and get ready to ride.

Hot air from gas cylinders helps control and direct the balloon, and it also defines the balloon’s level. The balloons’ capacities vary, ranging from 8 to 16 people. The wind powers the balloons. The team members release the balloon from the Serengeti safari van one more time before it takes off, setting the scene with a glacial pace that mimics nature’s slow motion.

Adventures in Hot Air Balloons

The crew guide will point out all the plants, animals, and landmarks you can see as you float through the sky after takeoff. When an action is captured, you can hold the balloon stationary so you can see it in all its glory. Additionally, the pilot can find the sweet spot where everyone can look in unison.

Depending on the circumstances and the weather, the flight should not exceed three hours in the air. Once the balloon has landed, the crew will come and collect you in their car. After breakfast in the bush, you can relax with a glass of wine. Then, we’ll head back to the tourist information center to meet your driver guide and continue the day’s activities.

Balloon Services

Because of the unpredictable weather and the limited capacity of the balloons, all of the hot air balloon rides in Serengeti must be reserved in advance. While two main balloon businesses offer these rides, other operators can assist their clients in making reservations.

Serengeti Balloon Safari and Miracle Experience Ltd. are the balloon companies.

Miracle Experience and Balloon Safari Serengeti both take their balloon rides over three different areas of the Serengeti. The Seronera Area is particularly well-known for its abundance of animals, while the center part of the Serengeti is also a popular destination.

In the same way that lions, leopards, elephants, zebras, warthogs, and other species do cross the park on their way to the northern section, so do wildebeest.

Depending on the time of year, the balloon safaris cover different parts of the Serengeti. Where the calving season occurs is situated on the northern section of Ngorongoro and the southern half of Serengeti. From December to February, this area experiences a significant increase in traffic.

From June to October, visitors to the Western and Northern Serengeti can witness the annual wildebeest migration. It is one of the most popular attractions in Serengeti National Park, which is often considered a natural wonder of the world.

The Serengeti Hot Air Balloon offers a unique perspective on the park, as shown below:

Witness the magnificent African Sun Rising. Serengeti hot air balloon excursions begin at about 5:30 in the morning, well before the sun comes out. As you soar through the sky, you catch the Serengeti National Park at its most vibrant during sunrise, the perfect moment to snap as many photos as you can.

Magnificent view of the wildebeest migration in the Serengeti

As far as animal history is concerned, the migrating wildebeests in Serengeti National Park are among the seven wonders of the world. Thousands of tourists flock to Kenya to see the wildebeests make their way across the Mara River to the Maasai Mara. Beginning in late May or early June and continuing through July, the animals begin their return journey from late September into October, when they travel back to the Serengeti. If you’re visiting Serengeti and want a bird’s-eye view of the wildebeest migration, a hot air balloon ride is your best bet.

Splurge on that bush breakfast

The Serengeti Hot Air Balloon Safari includes a bush breakfast, a glass of wine to toast the occasion, group photos, and a ride back to the tourist information center, where your driving guide may drop you off at your lodge or camp.

Look upon the hippo pool

As we float a few meters above the hippos’ pool, you can see them clearly from above. When the water level in the Serengeti drops during the dry season, it’s easier to view the hippos in their pools.

By taking a hot air balloon ride over Serengeti, you may experience the park like never before, unrestricted by speed limitations, off-road restrictions, and other inevitable game drive pitfalls. Because there is a daily cap on attendees, all balloon packages must be reserved in advance.

The Best Time to Go Hot Air Ballooning Over the Serengeti

Visitors who wish to experience Serengeti National Park at any time of year are fortunate with the weather. Although the ideal months to go hot air ballooning in the Serengeti are the dry months of June through October, the activity is really carried out all year round.
