Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth national park is located in the western part of Uganda in Kasese district laying between lake George and Albert with Kazinga channel. The park was named after the visit of Queen of England in 1952 with its various ecosystems made up of sprawling savannas, moist forests, sparkling lakes and fertile wetlands. Queen Elizabeth national park harbors different species like birds, primates and most importantly an incredible home for the BIG 5.

The best time to visit Queen Elizabeth national park is in the dry season, most importantly in the months of January to February and June to September. These two months are considered to be the peak season best for an incredible safari. And in the months of August to December, this is the very best time for migratory species arrival and lastly in the months of March to May, this is the best time for a fantastic birding safari.

Tree climbing lions:

Tree climbing lions are found in the southern part of Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park. Encountering unique lions is a lifetime experience worth the money and most importantly worth the fabulous experience. The lions climb the trees because they always escape from heat from the ground and also have a clear glimpse of their prey, mostly the antelopes, when feeding.

Kasenyi plains are found in the north eastern part of Queen Elizabeth national park commonly known as the kasenyi sector. The plains are commonly for their endless views of Savannah, with roaming antelopes such as the Uganda Kob. The plains are close neighbours on the beautiful shores of Lake George west of the lake joining Kazinga channel.

Kazinga channel:

This is the nearest and easiest route to use with a wide and long natural channel that links two freshwater lake George and Edward. Kazinga channel is characterised by 2 parts, North Kazinga and Kasenyi plains. The Kazinga channel is well known for the famous activity done in Queen Elizabeth known as the boat cruise. The cruise normally takes 2 hours with stunning views of the lakes and fabulous views of different animals like crocodiles, rhinos and different bird species.

Kyambura gorge:

It is situated in the eastern part of the park and is commonly known as a habitat for the endangered incredible chimpanzees. It is characterised by stunning views of rain forests, beautiful steep slopes and breathtaking landscapes.

Kalinzu forest:

This is a perfect destination for scenic guided walks. The nature walks through the valleys will expose your mind to a whole world of forest life.

Mweya peninsulas:

Mweya peninsula is basically known for game drives for its dense vegetation dominated by candelabra and thorny bushes where different animals lay in as habitats.

Lake Katwe salt works:

Lake Katwe is a salt water lake, located in the south western part of Uganda in Queen Elizabeth national park. The main economic activity basically done here is salt mining and more interactions with the local communities about their way of living.

Katwe explosion crater lakes:

The Katwe craters are located in the northern part of the Mweya peninsula. These have the highest elevation with Queen Elizabeth national park in western Uganda. During the scenic drive, you get to see the great western rift valley of Africa on the escarpments. As you continue, you also get to see Lake George and also get a chance of seeing the mt Rwenzori ranges and Kazinga channel that connects lakes Edward and George.
