Detailed itinerary for 11 days enchanting Rwanda – Uganda Tour
Day 01: Transfer from Kigali to Uganda
Following an early morning breakfast, you will depart your hotel and head to the Gisozi genocide memorial center. While here, you will witness the graveyards of the genocide victims laid to rest. You have a great opportunity to watch some of the touching videos and pictures and listen to stories that narrate the horrifying genocide act in the past years. You will then continue to Nyamata Church where over fifty thousand people were killed as they sought shelter in the church.
You will then visit the presidential palace museum, the state house of the former president the late Juvenal Habyarimana whose death in a plane crash sparked the genocide in 1994.
Later in the afternoon, you will embark on your transfer to Uganda where you will arrive in the late evening for dinner and an overnight stay at your already booked accommodation.

Day 02: Habituation of Golden Monkey
Following an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will head to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for a golden monkey habituation experience. The activity is one of a kind on the continent and can only be done in Uganda’s Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. You will head to the park headquarters for a briefing on dos and don’ts and also be grouped into groups of six individuals. From the headquarters, you will trek into the national park with a great 4 hours duration on the golden monkey habituation experience. You will enjoy these primates in their natural habitats as they play in the bamboo-infested forest, and mate among others.
After the habituation experience, you will trek back to the park headquarters for your departure back to the hotel.

Day 03: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park
Today you will wake up at leisure and transfer to Uganda. Along the way, you will enjoy an exceptional view of the beautiful scenery of the two beautiful countries that transits with various vegetation types. You will arrive and check in at your hotel for an overnight stay and dinner

Day 04: Gorilla Trekking
Today following early morning breakfast, you will proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park the Park -Rushaga with your packed lunch for briefing about dos and don’ts before you enter the Impenetrable Bwindi. There are a lot of other forms of wildlife to get your eyes on besides the mountain gorillas that are the primary attraction in the park. you will have a life-changing moment in these thick forests as you watch these massive creatures do their daily activities.

Day 05: Transfer to the Rwenzori Mountains
Very early in the morning, you will enjoy breakfast and relax at your hotel. After lunch, you will embark on a transfer to the Rwenzori Mountains for your next adventure. You will arrive in the late evening and check in at your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 06 – 10: Hike for 5 days
Nyakalengija (1600m) to John matte hut (3420m)
You will go to the Rwenzori mountaineering service offices in Nyakalengija where you will be briefed and then pick up your hiking equipment. The guides and porters will be ready and you will start the hike by passing through the local settlements, tropical forests, montane forests, bamboo forests and part of the alpine. As you hike, you will have a stopover at Nyabitaba hut for lunch and then proceed through the Kurt Schaffer Bridge which is at the conference of Mubuku and Bujuku Rivers. You will then reach john matte where you will have dinner and spend the night.
John matte to Elena hut (4563m)
After breakfast at john matte, you will pass through the rocky and slippery area as you cross different rivers and streams. Along this route, you will spot where you will be able to spot the Margherita and Alexandra peaks at a distance. You will then proceed with the hike through the lower bigo bog where boards were put to make movement easier, you will spot various plants like giant lobelia, groundsels, and everlasting flowers among others. You will continue to hike through the rocky parts of mount Stanley to Elena hut where you will have dinner and spend the night.
Elena to Bujuku camp (3930m) – Hiking to the top
On this day you will start the hike at around 2 am, get ready with your hiking gear and headlamps, you will hike through the rocky area, and will use the ropes as you hike on some spots to the Stanley glacier. You will need your crampons. After the Stanley glacier, you will remove the crampons and continue with the hike through the rocks to the Margherita glacier. The hike through the Margherita glacier will lead you to Margherita peak which is the highest point of the Rwenzori. You will then descend back to Elena’s hut where you will rest and have lunch. And then continue to descend to Bujuku hut where you will have dinner and spend the night.
Bujuku to Nyabitaba hut (2660m)
After breakfast at Bujuku you will move through the upper bigo bog, and continue descending through the lower bigo bog to john matte where you will rest and have lunch. You will then proceed to Nyabitaba hut where you will have dinner and spend the night.
Nyabitaba back to Nyakalengija
After breakfast at Nyabitaba, you will descend back to Nyakalengija
Day 11: Transfer to Kampala
Today you will wake up at leisure, and have breakfast before embarking on a transfer back to Kampala.
